About Mme Kavander
Bienvenue! Welcome to grade 3!
I am very excited and happy to be your child's French teacher this year. I have been teaching with the Halton District School Board for 16 years now and have been lucky to work at EFT for the last 6 years. I was born in Montreal, Quebec in a French Canadian family. I moved to Florida in grade 3 and that is when I began learning English. I know what it takes to learn a new language at this age. The key to success in reading and writing another language is to know how to speak it properly first. It is also a team effort between the student, parents and teachers.
My goal for each of my students is to get them to enjoy learning French. We will do this by spending most of our time, at the beginning, focused on speaking, speaking and speaking French! There will NOT be much homework at first because the majority of our time will be spent on oral/listening communication. In January, our Home Reading program will begin and in March our Home Writing program will start. I will only be sending homework home if your child hasn't done their work in class, benefits from extra work or if we are doing a special project.
Throughout the year I am committed to making sure all my students are doing their best in a safe, nurturing and respectful environment. If you have any questions or concerns, please email me at [email protected] and I will do my best to get back to you in a timely manner, however, I am a mom too and evenings are busy....so please keep that in mind... :)
I look forward to having an amazing year and working with you and your child on their learning journey!
